Jeff Cutler BCSLA, CSLA | Principal

Jeff is a landscape architect and is the Principal and founder of space2place. He has over 18 years experience in design, planning, project management, and communication. He is a strong advocate of extending the designers’ role to integrate public consultation, ecology, ethnography and engineering into the design and transformation of public places. 

Jeff has lectured on his work at universities and conferences and was a member of the 2008 jury for the AIBC Lieutenant-Governor General awards.  He is a regular guest critic at the UBC school of Architecture and Landscape Architecture and BCIT.  He was awarded Western Living’s Landscape Architect of the year in 2008.

Mike Teed BCSLA, CSLA | Landscape Architect

Mike has Masters and Bachelors degrees in Landscape Architecture from University of British Columbia and University of Guelph, respectively.  He has been with space2place for over 7 years.

Mike excels in finding opportunities through constraints and is able to see the big picture while managing the day-to-day progress of each project. He has a strong background in sustainable design and has studied how landscape architecture can play a role in promoting environmental and social stewardship in urban conditions.  

He has led many award-winning projects for space2place, including the Kinsmen Park and Area Master Plan (City of Saskatoon), North Shore Spirit Trail (various North Shore municipalities), and Oppenheimer Park (Vancouver Parks Board).

Alison Maddaugh BCSLA, CSLA | Landscape Architect 

Alison integrates her Masters Degree in landscape architecture from UBC with a background in fine arts and additional design studies in Sweden and the Netherlands.  Alison has over 7 years of experience in landscape architecture, and has been with space2place for over 5 years.

Alison has a unique understanding of outdoor play environments, informed by her research work with the CHILD Project, her master’s thesis, her school ground public art installations, and her studies abroad.   She brings a keen eye and creative focus to design places that perform well and look beautiful.  Viewing each site through the lens of aesthetics and phenomenology, Alison cultivates the experiential qualities of place.

Alison's project experience at space2place includes: SFU Univercity Childcare, Garden City Play Environment (City of Richmond), Surrey Nature Centre, City of Surrey Dog-off Leash Strategy, Fleetwood Community Park (City of Surrey), and North Vancouver City Hall.

Sarah Primeau BCSLA, CSLA, MSc | Landscape Architect, Landscape Ecologist 

Sarah has a Masters degree in Landscape Architecture (University of British Columbia) and a Masters of Ecology (Wetland Ecology, University of Waterloo).  Prior to undertaking her masters in landscape architecture she worked in Alberta with citizen stewardship groups and all levels of government to facilitate a variety of environmental stewardship initiatives. In her final year at UBC Sarah was a finalist for the Olmsted Scholarship, one of the top honours for landscape architecture students in North America.  

Sarah’s expertise lies in bringing ecology and design together, ensuring that open space redevelopment protects and restores ecological processes in a way that supports the human goals for a site.  She is skilled at interpreting a site’s ecological patterns and identifying ways to protect and enhance environmentally significant features.

Sarah's project experience at space2place includes: Lions Gate Wastewater Treatment Plant (Metro Vancouver), City of Burnaby Works Yard, Queen Elizabeth Park (City of Edmonton), Matsqui Trail Regional Park (Metro Vancouver), Pioneer Greenway Off Leash Park (City of Surrey), and the City of Surrey Dog Off Leash Strategy.

Phil Wyatt BA Spatial Design | Landscape Designer 

Phil has predominantly focussed on public space and art as a catalyst for social interaction. Phil graduated in Spatial Design at the Falmouth College of Arts, UK, in 2003. Phil's primary focus is delivering unique places that are well integrated into their surroundings.  He is skilled at communicating technical design solutions into built works.  His work experience prior to space2place was overseeing the creation and implementation of of public art projects for Mor in England. 

Phil's project experience at space2place includes: Confederation Park Water Play Feature (City of Burnaby), Prospect in Terra Nova Rural Park (City of Richmond), UniverCity Phase 4 Park (Simon Fraser University, Burnaby).

Neda Roohnia BArch, MLA | Landscape Designer 

Neda is a strong creative designer and visual communicator.  Her advanced spatial design skills enable her to envision refined design solutions.   She has two Masters degrees in Landscape Architecture (UBC, University of Tehran), and a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Shahid Beheshti University.

Neda's project experience at space2place includes: Kinsmen Park (City of Saskatoon), Queen Elizabeth Park (City of Edmonton), and the North Shore Spirit Trail.

Somaye Hooshmand BArch, MLA | Landscape Designer 

Somaye is a talented designer and illustrator, and she supports the design team with creativity and enthusiasm.  She has Masters degrees in Landscape Architecture from UBC and Shahid Beheshti University, and a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Sahid Rajaee University in Tehran.
