Queen Elizabeth Park
Queen Elizabeth Park is located within Edmonton’s river valley, and is largely a passive-use park where users come to recreate and connect with the natural environment. Space2place has led several public engagement opportunities, including workshops, an open house, stakeholder meetings, and online surveys.
The resulting park master plan enhances natural areas, focuses new development in previously developed sites, improves circulation through the park, and provides a variety of spaces for year-round activities. Members of the Aboriginal community were engaged in the development of the plan, and the park plan will incorporate a number of cultural elements that tell traditional and contemporary Aboriginal stories in the park, including the development of an ethnobotanical interpretive trail.
